A hand to hold for abandoned elders
Offering weekly food rations, shelter support, and warm care packages to senior citizens left with no family support.
As younger generations migrate to urban centers in search of work, an increasing number of elderly citizens in rural villages are left behind with no source of income or family care. Deprived of physical strength to work, many suffer from neglect, isolation, and malnutrition.
The 'Aasara' (A Hand to Hold) program by Sri Satya Society provides a lifeline for abandoned elders. Every week, our welfare coordinators visit registered senior citizens to deliver care packages containing essential grains, lentils, oil, and hygiene supplies, ensuring they never have to worry about their next meal.
Beyond nutritional support, we recognize that emotional isolation is a silent crisis among the elderly. Our volunteers spend quality time with the elders, listening to their stories and assisting them with daily tasks, doctor visits, and housing maintenance.
By restoring dignity and care to our seniors, we seek to show them that they are valued members of our community, who deserve to live their golden years in comfort, safety, and warmth.
“Our vision is to build an Andhra Pradesh where access to qualitative primary education and basic medical clinics is not dictated by a family’s financial standing, creating self-reliant village ecosystems.”
